Restricted Substances Lists
Many nations today legally restrict the dissemination of hazardous substances. In Europe keywords are e. g. the council directive 76/769/EC "marketing and use of certain dangerous substances and preparations" with its numerous adaptions or council directive 95/2002/EC known as RoHS. In addition to those legal requirements, non governmental organisations offer a number of quality certificates with more stringent criteria which form the base for a variety of voluntary self restrictions on the part of leather article manufacturers and dealers. All those are generally known as "restricted substances lists".
Examples include the Global Automotive Declarable Substances List http://www.gadsl.org/ --->"lists"
the SG-Label of the Test and Research Institute PFI at Pirmasens

LANXESS constantly monitors this situation, and accordingly the most problematic substances are no longer intentionally applied by LANXESS Leather for the production of any of our products for the manufacture of leather.
