High Product Quality
Despite all the precautions taken, there is still a possibility that LANXESS products might be involved in an accident, even if such occurrences have become very rare thanks to careful product development and customer support.
To ensure that LANXESS can react more swiftly if an incident occurs and establish as quickly as possible if there are any links between LANXESS products and health, environmental or other risks, the company's Specialty Products Business Group has set up a central "Product Monitoring Unit."
Here, both commercial products, i.e. products which are supplied ready for use by the end consumer, and products and raw materials which are further processed and sold by third parties are closely monitored and constantly reassessed from their registration right through to their environmentally safe disposal. Customer comments and enquiries from end users are also collected here, as well as all kinds of publications in the various media and information from other LANXESS departments (e.g. research, industrial medicine, ecology and toxicology).
If a potential hazard is detected and the exposure of the users or the release of the substance into the environment cannot be reduced to an acceptable level, the Product Monitoring Unit can even give instructions for the offending product to be withdrawn from the market.
Obviously, such a comprehensive product safety concept is not cheap, but this is the only way customers can be sure that the products they use are safe according to current knowledge.
